Favourites Of The Month (Part Two)

Welcome back!

Here is part two of my monthly favourites!

  • Clothes
  • App
  • Book
  • Game
  • Hair Style
  • Activity
  • Movie
  • Coffee/Tea
  • Accessories

Let's get to it!

Clothes

I have a couple items that I wore a few times this month and one that I only wore once, but I love it! First is my leopard print long sleeved top that I got from Old Navy last fall. This top is so comfy, lightweight, and cute! In the fall and winter I love to pair it up with my red skinnies, but it could go with just about anything really. The sleeves roll up into a 3/4 length if you don't want to have long sleeves (it's very useful in the summer!) It's one of my favourite pieces! Next is a newer top, and I got it from Sirens maybe a month or so ago? It's a  Hi-low cream coloured lightweight chiffon type material top, and I love the crochet lace cut out detailing on the back, that and the studded collar are what really sold me on this top (so much so I bought  two! The other is a teal colour) It's basic enough to dress up or down and I love it! Last is a dress I got at the same time as the top but from a different store. It's a gorgeous maxi dress that to me screams summer and I wish I could have gone on holiday this year just so I could wear it (I've worn it before but I would have more of an excuse to wear a cute dress lol) I love the print and it's a halter type, so it has strings to tie it up and there are cute beads on the strings, which I thought was cute.

App

The app I have been loving this month is actually one I've had and have been using since it came out. It is a game, and I have a few games, but this is one of the only ones I've continuously come back to and played. I'm always so stoked every time there's an update! I suppose I should tell you what that app is ha ha I'm talking about The Simpsons Tapped Out game! I LOVE The Simpsons so much, I grew up watching it and my hubby and I are the biggest Simpsons nerds ever! We just love to watch and re-watch all the episodes and they never get old. Basically you have to re-build Springfield thanks to Homer (he kind of blew up the original Springfield LOL) It's REALLY addicting especially if you are a fan of The Simpsons, there's so much to do and there are always new updates and new characters to unlock! I definitely recommend it!

Book

Unfortunately I haven't read anything this month (besides doing my Bible Study) but I do have a favourite book, and it's not for reading! It's for writing.. I got a journal type book a few years ago and I would use it to write random quotes that I like. I hadn't used it in quite a while, so this month I really tried to write in it more and I did!

Game

I talked about this game in a different post, so I won't go into detail. The game I loved this month was Family Guy Back to the Multiverse! Brian and Stewie are my favourites and they are the main characters in the story mode. My hubby and I played the hell out of this game and beat everything and got every trophy and I loved it! You can get more characters to play in the multiverse modes and Lois is my favourite out of all of them (If you have played it or will play it, you might see why if you have the same preference like my hubby and I did) Again, if you're a fan of Family Guy GO GET THIS GAME! It's so much fun!

Hair Style

I've been keeping things really simple this month (not like I ever did anything crazy or elaborate with my hair in the first place...) but I've just kept my hair down for the most part, it's easy and I can just throw it into a pony tail if it starts to annoy me...

Activity

Hands down, the best thing we did this month was our Canada Day Party/ get together! It's always an amazingly fun time, and it's just about the only time we can get some of our friends together and catch up. Not to mention Lake Shore has got to be one of my favourite spots in this city!

Movie

This month I've seen three movies in theatres and a few on Netflix/DVD, and this is a no brainer to me but my favourite movie out of all of them was Despicable Me 2! If you haven't seen it, GO NOW!!!!! I can't wait for it to come out on DVD so I can watch it a million times! ha ha

Coffee/Tea

I'm a big coffee drinker, and I love everything about coffee! This month however, I was sick so I was drinking a lot of Earl Grey Tea. (I prefer the Tazo brand but since there's a Tim Hortons up the street from me, I've been drinking their tea) I usually only drink tea when I don't feel well, I don't know why but it just helps me feel a little less like death lol. I have had Starbucks a couple times though, and my favourite is their Caramel Macchiato, (Hot and Iced) but that isn't what I've been getting.. (I know random) I've been getting their Coffee Frappuccino (Yep, boring but it's pretty good!) and of course I couldn't forget my old reliable Double Double from Tim's.

Accessories

Last but not least! I haven't really been wearing many accessories this month, just my glitter star stud earrings and my new favourite owl earrings... Maybe I'll be more exciting next month if I decide to do this again...

That's all for my favourites this month!
Hope you enjoyed!

Favourites Of The Month (Part One)

Hey again!

I thought that since the month is nearly over, I would share some of my favourite things! I don't know if I'll be doing this every month or not, but if I decide to I made a list of things that I can go over every month.

So here's the first half of the list (In no particular order, it was just what came to mind first):

  • Song
  • TV Show
  • Food or Snack
  • Make Up
  • Perfume/Body Spray
  • Body
  • Hair
  • Nail Polish
  • Shoes
I probably won't have a favourite of each category every month, but like I said I'm not sold on doing this sort of post every month... I think I'll break it down into 2 parts, so 9 today and 9 tomorrow... Just so this post isn't overly long....Let's get started!

Song

I generally always listen to music, (and all kinds of music) but I haven't really been keeping up with the newer songs these days... I used to watch the top 20 countdown like everyday.... (lol) There are a couple songs I've been listening to this month that I love:

I Can't Love You Back- Easton Corbin
Catch My Breath- Kelly Clarkson
Every Storm (Runs Out Of Rain)- Gary Allan
Bring It- Trapt
Bones- Young Guns
Lift Me Up- Five Finger Death Punch

TV Show

I've been obsessed with Dexter ever since the first episode! I'm so sad that season 8 is the final season, and I have no idea how life will go on once it's all over (Yes over dramatic I know ha ha) Another show I've been watching that is actually brand new is Ray Donovan and I have to admit, the only reason I wanted to watch it in the first place was because Liev Schreiber is starring in it. (MEGA CRUSH!!) Aside from that, I'm really into it and it's really interesting!

Food or Snack

I found this yummy snack laying around in my kitchen at I'd say the beginning of the month and I didn't think I would end up loving it as much as I did! It's an Indian snack (which is nothing new for me) and it's called Masala Chana which is spicy chickpeas. They aren't all that spicy, but they give a nice kick and they are crispy and crunchy and just an awesome snack.

Makeup

I've been keeping my makeup pretty simple this month; some foundation, blush, eyeliner, and mascara. Sometimes I wore eyeshadow and when I did I kept reaching for my Cover Girl trio in Cafe Au Lait, it's my favourite neutral shadow "palette". My go to liner this month was the Essence Kajal Pencil in Black, it's really great for tight lining and for the waterline. It lasts pretty long and for I think $1.99 CAD it was money well spent! Recently I've been using my E.L.F Baked Blush in Passion Pink, and I love it! I've had it for a few months now, but I never really gave it a go until this month. It's a kind of coral pink colour and it stays a lot longer than their regular blushes so big plus there. As far as lips go, I've only been using three products this month, my favourite lipstick which is Nicely Nude by E.L.F and two Essence XXXL Shine Lip Glosses in Nude Candy and Big Night Out. I'm pretty much in love with these lip glosses, they are creamy, they glide on, they stay fairly well and they smell like candy! Last favourite of the makeup category is my E.L.F Eyebrow Kit in Ash and I've loved this since I got it, I've been using the powder side to fill in my brows and I like how it fills them in but leaves them looking natural and not drawn on or too dramatic.

Perfume/Body Spray and Body

I decided to put these two together since I only have one product for both of these categories. First is the body spray I've been using, I have quite a few but I kept finding myself reaching for my Sensuous Escape body spray in Cocoa Butter from Victoria's Secret. I love how fresh it smells and just how summer-y it feels to me. It's a light build-able scent and I love how it lingers in my room after I spray it. I've also been loving my Olay Fresh Moisture Body Wash in Silky Berry. I haven't noticed a difference in how my skin feels (it says it will leave skin more hydrated than regular soap and that it won't dry out your skin) A little goes a long way and it lathers up really well, but what I love most is the berry scent! It lingers for a bit in the washroom, but I don't feel like it sticks to my skin...

Hair

I've picked up two new items this month that I seriously wish I knew about a long time ago... C'est la vie right....? I have been using the Organix Nourishing Coconut Milk Anti-Breakage Serum every time I wash my hair and I've noticed a big improvement in the health of my hair, especially my ends. I detest coconut everything, but to me this smells like cotton candy.. (Weird but I'm okay with that ha ha) My ends are much more nourished, and a lot less frizzy and dried out, and my hair is shinier too. For $7 CAD I really couldn't go wrong and I'm glad I finally picked this stuff up! My other wish I knew about this sooner item is my Goody Detangling Brush, and let me just say it was the best ten bucks I've ever spent! I haven't used any other brush or comb since I got this bad boy and I am in LOVE! (I even dedicated an entire post to it!)

Nail Polish

It was a little hard for me to pick a favourite nail polish, because I'm changing my nails up almost every week and I haven't really been using the same colour twice... I did pick two favourites however because I realized I did use these ones a couple times this month both on my toes and my nails. They are from Pure Ice and the colours I have been loving were Bikini (a powder blue) and Flirt Alert (a hot pink) I can't say enough about these! They are sooooo cheap (Think under $2 CAD) they glide on and stay on all week without a top coat! Plus the colours are so vibrant and gorgeous!

Shoes

I've been pretty boring on the shoe front this month, I have a fairly decent amount of shoes and I haven't been wearing any of them... I've been sticking to my good old black Old Navy Flip Flops and my Chucks this month.. Not much to say about them, I just like them a lot and they're my easy go to shoes.

Stay tuned for part 2 tomorrow!
What are your favs for the month?

D.I.Y Time! (Kawaii Ice Cream Cone)

Hello everyone!

Today I thought I would try making a tutorial for anyone who wants to get into making plushies or for anyone who wants to sharpen their sewing skills.. (or if you just love really ridiculously cute things!) This idea literally came out of the blue, and I was sort of in the crafting mood; so I came up with a super easy super cute ice cream cone! I embroidered on the eyes and used a blanket stitch for the entire project, but you can do whatever you're comfortable with. You can also use what ever colours you have handy and you can embellish the plush any way you want. This is just a guideline and I show you the way that I make some of my plush items. The only limit you have is your own creativity! Let's get started!

You'll need:

  • Felt (any colours you want for the ice cream and cone)
  • Thread to match (I use embroidery floss, they come in every colour you can imagine so it's easy to match to your fabric)
  • Scissors
  • Stuffing
  • A pen (I recommend a ink pen because Sharpies tend to bleed through some fabrics)
  • A needle
  • Some pins (if you need them, I don't usually use them for smaller projects, but I added them for the sake of the tutorial)
  • White paper (to draw your object on to use as a template or pattern)
  • Fabric Fusion (optional, if you want to affix some pieces before stitching them together)
  • Any embellishments you want to add

You'll want to start by roughly drawing your shape onto the paper. I don't usually do this unless it's going to be something I make often, and for the sake of the tutorial I decided to make a template... (Plus it turned out really adorably and I think I'll be making more!)

Next cut out your shapes

I wrote x2 on these because you'll want to draw 2 of each piece on your fabric

Now take your shapes and draw them onto the desired colours of felt

I decided I wanted to put a cherry on my ice cream, so I drew some circles on a piece of red felt and cut a stem out of the scrap felt of the colour I'm using for the cone.
 Now cut out your shapes

I attached the stem to the inside of the cherry with some fabric fusion and stitched the cherry together with a blanket stitch

Then I attached the cherry to what will be the front piece of my ice cream

Next add the eyes (I embroidered mine on, you can use safety eyes or felt, whatever you want really)

Then I cut out a small piece of red felt for a mouth and stitched it on, if you don't want to stitch it on you can always use glue, or embroidery or you can draw or paint it on.

I put some running back stitches onto the cone to make it look like a waffle cone (my favourite) but again you can do whatever you'd like

Now stitch the bottom of the ice cream to the top of the cone (I used a blanket stitch) and leave it like that for now

Next stitch the cone together and leave the top open

Lightly stuff the cone and stitch it closed

Then stitch the ice cream parts together, leaving a small opening at the end for stuffing. Lightly stuff the top like you did with the cone and stitch the opening shut and you're done!

There is the front and back view, you can add anything you want to it! I think I'm going to affix a magnet to the back with some fabric fusion and either sell it in my Etsy shop or stick it on my fridge... (I think it's so cute so I'm not sure if I want to give it up! lol) You can also add ribbon to the top and make it into a key chain, (or punch a hole and add an eyelet to make it more fancy) and you can add small beads or sequins if you want some sprinkles (I was originally going to add some rainbow sequins to the front of mine, but for the life of me I couldn't find where I put those buggers...)

That's all! I hope you enjoyed my very first tutorial!

I may do more in the future!

xoxoxo

PS: If you make one or a zillion of these cuties, post a link or photo in the comments! I'd love to see your works of art! Or you can post pictures to my Stitchy World page on Facebook! www.facebook.com/stitchyworld

Video Games I'm Currently Playing!

Hey there!

I have a decent collection of games that I've been accumulating ever since I was a kid... I've traded in quite a few over the years, and looking back there were a few that I gave up that I kinda wish I hadn't... I'm sort of the person who buys a game and plays the hell out of it, then leaves it for a while and plays it all over again.. So even though I may have many games, they all get played, maybe not equally, because I have a few games that I will play over and over until the end of time (not even exaggerating) none the less I do play all of my games... I'm currently replaying Final Fantasy VIII and Final Fantasy IX and I find it's always fun to replay games you haven't played in years, because if you have a goldfish mind like I do, you forget a lot of the game play (not so much the general story but more of the specific details) it's interesting and fun to rediscover the game! My hubby and I were reeeeeeeeeeeeeally late on the whole Borderlands bandwagon... (We picked it up around the end of the Summer last year.. I think?) We were really into it; but unfortunately for it, we picked it up at a rather inopportune time; and we dropped that game so fast that no one could blink, because Resident Evil 6 had just come out and I was all over that! (My hubby and I played that game relentlessly and we ended up beating it several times and we got the platinum trophy for it.. It's an EPIC game and if you haven't played it you MUST!) Then I got him Family Guy Back to the Multiverse and we played that for a while until we beat everything and got the platinum, (Also a good game) so now FINALLY we are getting back into playing it! (I got him the second one for Christmas and we have yet to even install the game....) [hangs head in shame] LOL I'm also playing Mario Bros. 3 here and there (because I grew up playing Nintendo/Super Nintendo and Mario will ALWAYS have a special place in my heart!) and every once in a while I'll break out my all time favourite Final Fantasy VI and play it for the millionth time, because I freaking love it and to me the game never gets old!

Some other games I play over and over:

  • Final Fantasy IV&VII
  • Chrono Trigger
  • Earth Bound
  • Parasite Eve 1,2&3rd birthday
  • Resident Evil 2 & 3
  • Zelda Ocarina of Time, Link's Awakening & A Link to the Past
  • Super Mario RPG Legend of the Seven Stars

I know there are more, but right now nothing is coming to mind.. Knowing me I probably left out something really good that I always play... MERP....

(I don't own a Nintendo .. I know tragic right?! It's definitely on the top of my retro game list, and I also don't own some of the games that were for their original platforms when they were released [Like Zelda A Link to the Past, I bought that from the Nintendo Store on the Wii...] and other games I own for many platforms [like Final Fantasy IV, VI, and Chrono Trigger] Also about 90% of my games prior to moving to Canada were all bought used, so any damage you see is from the previous owner, I take very good care of my games and systems which is why a lot of the older games have lasted for so long.... But they have seen better days lol)

That's all for now!

If you play games, what is a game that you could play over and over again without ever getting bored??

Procrastinators Unite! .....Tomorrow.....

Hey there!

Okay I am willingly admitting that I am the queen of procrastination! I was terrible about my school work when I was in school... I tended to leave projects and sometimes homework to the very last second... I find that I still have those bad tendencies and it's especially bad when I'm crafting something for myself... I always seem to get to it when I'm making something for someone else, but when I'm making something just for the sheer fun of it, almost anything can end up making me drop a project for a few days, a week, 3 months or in the case of what I'm about to show you.. OVER 1 year! Yes one year... I like to Google images of cute plushies sometimes if I'm bored or I'm looking for some kind of inspiration... (I like to make my own patterns and create the vision that's inside my head, but sometimes it's fun to make something using a pre-made pattern.. I find it really helps build up my skill level and lets me try out different sewing techniques. I'm self taught in plush making incase anyone was curious or didn't already know...) I came across a cute elephant and I found out that it actually was a pattern by someone on Etsy! I jumped all over it and their shop is called DIYFluffies (http://www.etsy.com/shop/DIYFluffies) I initially bought the elephant pattern but then I saw some other super adorable patterns in the shop, so I got a penguin and a dragon pattern. I made the penguin just because I didn't have any projects in the works at the time and the other two ended up being gifts for a friend of mine's daughter and my cousin's son.. I had forgotten about this shop until about a year ago, I was looking on Google again and I came across a super cute lion! Long story short, I bought it and was super stoked to make it and then something along the way made me put it down.. I'm not exactly sure why I left this half made lion sitting in a drawer for so long, but the other day I finally said that it's time to finish him! I would sometimes take him out and work on him, but not for long and sure enough, he ended up back in said drawer... Anyway I'm really glad I finished him and I think I should start going through my other stuff and see what else I've left unfinished... When I first started crafting, I made it a point to not start something new until what I was working on was finished.. Eventually the list of things I wanted to make was growing bigger and bigger until I threw that rule out the window and worked on whatever I felt like at the time...

He looks so cute and fat! I have him hanging out on the top of my sofa...
He matches the wall..

Are you a procrastinator too??
What is the one thing you have put off for so long that you finally decided to finish?
