Favourites Of The Month! (Part 2 [November 2013])

Welcome back to my favourites of the month!

Part 2 of the list:
  • Clothes
  • App
  • Book
  • Game
  • Hairstyle
  • Activity
  • Movie
  • Coffee/Tea
  • Accessory
  • Miscellaneous
Clothes

I've kept it on the comfy and warm side this month, mostly because it's getting quite cold out now. Some of my favourite items to wear this month were:
  • Cardigans
  • Long sleeve tops
  • Sweaters
  • Leggings

App

I don't have a new favourite app this month... I haven't downloaded anything really new from the app store for quite some time now, but I have been using Instagram a lot more lately. I'm slightly obsessed with IG ha ha and I'm adding new photos almost everyday, especially this month.

Book

My favourite book this month isn't an actual book, it's my e-reader! I've had my e-reader for a couple years now and I put it down for a while, mostly because I still prefer an actual book. I usually keep my e-reader in my purse, so I can read something if I'm out for a long period of time or if I'm travelling. Recently however, I dug it out of my purse and decided to start using it again, and I still love it as much as I did when I first got it! It's really convenient, especially for travel because it can hold a decent amount of books on one device and mine fits right in my purse, plus it's very lightweight.

Game

I am sad to admit (from a lifelong gamer standpoint) that I haven't been gaming very much recently.. I have however decided to start making more time to play and I've been playing a few games this month!
  • Kirby's Epic Yarn for Wii: I LOVE the way this game was made! The design combines my love for sewing and my love for video games and to make it even better it's got Kirby! I like how the world maps are interactive and the items you acquire from certain levels are used in creative ways to open up other levels. Kirby can transform his yarn body into various objects to suit his surroundings.
  • Mario Kart 7 for 3DS: They've added some new features this time around, along with a few new items and I'm also loving the new levels! They have some levels from previous versions, but some are slightly altered from their original state. Over all I really like this version, but I do wish they had more of a variety of characters to choose from, the way they do in the Wii version.
  • New Super Mario Bros. 2 for 3DS: There are a lot of the same features and concepts in this game as there were in the last one, but they have added some new items and of course all new levels and I have been really into this game for the month!

Hairstyle

Keeping on the simple side of things once again, I haven't really been doing anything drastic with my hair.. I'll usually leave my hair down and maybe add a little poof in the front, or I'll do a side braid.. I've been alternating between a regular braid and a fishtail braid. Simple but cute!

Activity

My favourite activity hands down this month has been putting up our Christmas tree and decorating the house! I am always so excited for Christmas and my birthday! It truly is the best time of the year!

Movie

I haven't been to the movies in so long it seems like! I have watched a few movies at home and my favourites this month were: Django Unchained and The Raven. (I know I'm a tad late on these) If you haven't seen either I definitely suggest doing so! They were both so good!

Coffee/Tea

My favourite coffee this month has been the Peppermint Mocha from Starbucks! I usually go for the Gingerbread Latte for this time of the year, but Peppermint Mocha has been calling my name and I just can't resist! ha ha!

Accessory

I've been wearing the same set of jewellery this month... I got a very pretty heart necklace and matching earrings from my hubby for one of our anniversaries; they are so delicate and dainty, and I just feel like they dress up any outfit.

Miscellaneous

I have a couple random favourites and they are:
  • Candles: Mint Chocolate from B&BW and Black Cherry from Michael's
  • My Nintendo 3DS
  • My owl candle holders
Not too sure if you can tell, but I have the midnight purple 3DS (My hubby got it for me for Christmas last year, he knows me so well!)

Things I'm looking forward to next month:

  • Going back home! (18 days!)
  • Celebrating Christmas at my Granny's
  • Seeing my Dad and spending our birthday together
  • Spending time with my besties who have always been there for me even 3,000 miles away
  • Seeing my family
  • Shopping
  • Enjoying my winter holiday
  • Making tons of fun and amazing memories that I will cherish forever

That's all for now lovelies!
What are some things you're looking forward to next month?

Favourites Of The Month! (Part One [November 2013])

I have to say this month just FLEW by! Christmas is coming and I am so excited to put up our tree and to start decorating the house! (I'm also so excited to be going back home for Christmas!) I didn't make a favourites post for September or October, because I didn't really have any favourites for September and Halloween pretty much took up my October ha ha! I decided to bring it back this month, so let's get to it!

Part one of the list:
  • Song
  • TV Show
  • Food or Snack
  • Make up
  • Perfume
  • Body
  • Hair
  • Nail Polish
  • Shoes
Song:

This month I have been into listening to Country music something fierce! I absolutely LOVE Country, I grew up listening to it and I don't think my love for it will ever change! I'm into three country albums and one Rock/Alternative album right now. I'm seriously loving all of these albums, and as many times as I listen to them over and over, they only get better!
  • Crash My Party: Luke Bryan
  • Night Train: Jason Aldean
  • Fuse: Keith Urban
  • Baptized: Daughtry

TV Show

My favourite show this month hands down has been American Horror Story Coven! I LOVE the American Horror Story series and it's like nothing I've ever really seen on TV before. If you're not familiar with this show, it's basically about different types of horror stories: the first season was about a haunted house and ghosts, the second season was about an asylum, serial killers and the supernatural and this season is all about witches, magic and voodoo. The unique part about this show, besides the different stories, is that they use the same cast of people and they play different characters each season. I'm very much into horror, and this show is exactly that! It's so captivating, you can't help but going back for more and it just gets better every season!

Food or Snack

Nothing too exciting here, but I've been loving fruits and almonds this month. I love snacking on them between meals and it's a lot better than grabbing candy or chips or something like that.. I'm trying to eat a little better, so this is a good first step...

Makeup

I usually like to go with bolder/darker eyes and lips during the fall/winter season, but I have been going with a pretty simple look this month (I feel like every time I do one of these posts I always say something along those lines ha ha) I've been doing foundation, setting powder, blush, eyebrows, mascara and eyeliner. The odd time I'll use bronzer, but I'm not a huge fan of it...

The products I've been loving are:
  • Maybelline Dream Liquid Mousse Airbrush Finish
  • Mirabella Perfecting Powder
  • ELF Blush in Pink Passion
  • Pixi Beauty Bronzer in Subtly Suntouched
  • Chella Hello Beautiful Eyes Dazzling Dark Brown Eyebrow Color
  • ELF Wet Gloss Lash and Brow Clear Mascara
  • Starlooks Kohl Eyepencil in Obsidian
  • Maybelline Master Precise Eyeliner
  • Maybelline The Rocket Mascara
  • ELF Lipstick in Nicely Nude
  • ELF Glitter Gloss in Crystal Cranberry
  • Juice Beauty Lipgloss in Champagne

Perfume

I have 2 favourite perfumes/body sprays this month. Besides the obvious Warm Vanilla Sugar scent that I talk about practically every chance I get, I've been loving Victoria's Secret Dream Angels Heavenly scent. It's a musky, warm, and sexy kind of scent and I feel its a perfect fall/winter scent. I've been alternating between these 2 all month long.

Body

I have about 4 favourites this month for the body/skin. Since it's winter and it's getting steadfastly colder and because I have extremely dry skin my favourites are all lotions. I have 2 hand creams and a body lotion and I threw in my lip balm since it fits with the cold weather dry skin remedy.
  • Nivea Hand Cream
  • Sea Glow Mineral Hand Cream
  • Garnier Intensive 7 Days Repairing Lotion for extra dry skin
  • Blistex Lip Medix medicated lip balm

Hair

I only have one favourite for hair (besides the Organix Coconut Milk serum that I always talk about ha ha) and it's an item I received in my November Ipsy Glam Bag. It's a hairspray by Tresemme; and it's called Tres Two Spray Extra Firm Hold hairspray with all day humidity resistance. I love Tresemme in general, I use their hairsprays and thermal protect spray, but this is the first time I've tried a hair spray with humidity resistance and I love it! This hair spray is great for keeping my hair looking sleek and keeping everything in place, but the great thing about this hairspray is that it doesn't make my hair feel crunchy and stiff! I will definitely be purchasing the full sized version of this hairspray when my travel size runs out.

Nail Polish

I have 3 nail polish favourites this month; one I already mentioned in my favourites of fall series, and the other 2 I got in my October and November Glam Bags. I tend to gravitate towards rich dark colours and also glitters and golds for this time of the year, and this month I'm loving Cranberry Red, Indigo/Blue and Rose Gold.
  • NYC In A New York Minute: 205 Columbus Circle Crimson
  • Zoya: Neve
  • Nailtini: Champagne

Shoes

Since winter is afoot, (no pun intended ha ha) it tends to get on the freezing side of things here and there isn't much leeway in shoe options... That being said, I've been on the practical and boring side of things and have been wearing my UGG Boots... (Love them or hate them, find them cute or completely hideous, they are very warm and keep my feet nice and toasty and dry from the snow and other winter elements...) Another shoe related and winter related favourite this month (and last month when my hubby got them for me) are my super adorable owl slippers!

That's all for part one! Come back tomorrow for part 2!
What are some of your favourites this month??

Weekend Shopping And Adventures!

Hey there!

I hope everyone's weekend has been as AMAZING as mine has! I got to spend Friday and Saturday with my hubby which has been a rarity these days.. I did a little shopping as well and I spent some quality time with my little bear and also, I realized that I truly have an awesome group of friends! (sometimes I can forget how blessed I really am, so it's nice to be reminded every now and then that I'm missed and people actually care about me and the goings on in my life!) Friday my hubby had plans to go out with our friends for dinner, and I decided not to go because they were going to a sushi place and unfortunately I'm allergic to seafood... (I didn't feel comfortable eating from there...) I didn't want to stop him from going however, so even though he didn't want to go without me I told him to go anyway. Before he left though, he took us (little bear and I) to the mall, because I wanted to go to Bath and Body Works (obsessed!) I picked up a few things, but since my hubby was short on time we didn't stay for very long... We got Starbucks and then headed home.. The plus side to not going out with him was that I got to spend time with my little bear, aka my adopted little sister (she's really my hubby's cousin, but we consider ourselves sisters and I love it!) We talked and watched Puss in Boots (so hilarious!) and we played some Wii; it was tons of fun and I wouldn't trade those times for anything in the world! Saturday I had plans of cleaning, but that didn't happen... (I wanted to organize things and put my mountain of laundry away.. Okay, so maybe not a mountain but it feels like it sometimes... ha ha) My mommy in law wanted to go to Sears for the longest time now, so we made some time to take her (I love her to bits and would do anything for her, she really is the best!) I'm not sure how true this is, but I've heard that Sears is closing their doors, at least in Canada? They're having massive sales right now, so maybe it's true? I really hope not, because we don't really have any department stores besides The Bay, and it's like Macy's... (expensive...) I'd love for Kohl's or even JC Penny to come up here... (le sigh) Any way, I didn't look around too much there, because it was pure chaos and everything was a jumbled mess.. I did however pick up a cute winter sweater for super cheap, and then we made our way over to HMV, so I could get Daughtry's new album. (LOVE) We got our first snow fall too! Usually when we first start getting snow it's not enough to stick and it doesn't snow for too long, but it was going pretty good on and off all day... (I love the snow!) Other than that, we spent some time with one of my hubby's cousins and we hung out at home. It's been a great weekend, and even though I might be coming down with a cold (boo) I can't help but be in a fabulous mood this time of the year! Christmas is drawing closer and we'll be decorating soon! I guess it's the spirit of the season that makes me feel so happy, seeing all the decorations and the snow and the anticipation of Christmas, I just love everything about winter!

I had another warm vanilla sugar spray in the mini bottle, but I asked little bear if she wanted one and she picked that one =]

I had to break out my big fluffy winter coat because it was so cold!

That's all for today lovelies!

DIY Button Tree Christmas Ornament

I bring again another simple, fast, and cute Christmas DIY! This project takes 5 minutes tops and the final result is an adorable Christmas tree!

Things you'll need:

  • Buttons of various sizes (in greens and browns.. I got my buttons about a year or so ago from Walmart)
  • Thread (I used green embroidery floss)
  • Scissors
  • A needle (I found it was easier to thread the floss through the tiny buttons)
  • Any extras for decoration (I had some stars for the top of the tree and a jingle bell for an extra festive touch.. The stars came from the Dollar Tree in a pack of Christmas beads and I believe the bells came from Walmart.. I got them quite a few years ago)

To start, sort out your buttons by size (biggest to smallest) I used 5 for the tree trunk and 12 for the actual tree portion. Take the thread and match the ends together (don't cut it, you'll be threading the buttons through the 2 sides instead of just one) Now start threading your buttons one at a time working your way to the top. (I added a jingle bell first and then started adding buttons) Once you make your way to the top, you can leave it as is, or add something to the top. I used a yellow star. (It ended up being too big for the thread, so when I put a knot in the top it didn't hold... I was left with a loop, so I looped some ribbon through and strung the star through the ribbon and finished it off with a double knot.)

That's all lovelies!
What is your favourite type of Christmas craft??

Mini Bath And Body Works Haul!

The other day my hubby and I went to our mall to begin the arduous task of Christmas shopping.. Of course I had to stop into B&BW and of course they were having sales and OF COURSE I had to buy something! haha I wanted to go crazy with the candles, but I held back and didn't get ANY.. (Boo) I did however finally pick up some more of those scentportable refill discs! (The last time I went they had 2 scents both of which I didn't like...) This time around they had some Christmas-y scents and they were also on sale buy 4 get 2 free; PLUS when we went they were apparently having their "happy hour" sale going on, so it was 25% off on top of the sale prices! These go for $3.50 a piece, (I got 6) which without any promotions or sales, would have made my total $21.00 not including tax... I spent a total $11.84 tax included.

One Cinnamon Stick disc isn't pictured here, because it's being used in our car.

The scents I picked up were:

  • 3 Cinnamon Stick (cinnamon is my all time favourite Christmas/Winter scent)
  • 2 Twisted Peppermint
  • 1 Island Margarita (my hubby liked this one and even though it's not a Christmas/Winter scent I liked it too, so we got one haha)

My cute owl scent holder, it currently has one of the Cinnamon Stick portables in it... Of course I got an owl haha..

That's all for today lovelies!
What is your favourite or go to Christmas/Winter scent?
