Favourites Of The Month! (Part One [March 2014])

Another month almost gone, and another favourites post to write!

Here's part one of the list:
  • Song
  • TV Show
  • Food
  • Makeup
  • Perfume
  • Body
  • Hair
  • Nail Polish
  • Shoes

Song/Music:

This month I've been looking into new (to me) bands and just new music in general to listen to and I've really been loving a band called The Letter Black. They're a Christian Rock band and if you're into Rock music, I definitely recommend checking them out!

TV Show:

I haven't been watching regular television much lately, but I have been watching crazy amounts of Netflix! I have been re watching Breaking Bad this month.. I have yet to come across a person who doesn't like the show! I didn't believe all the hype that was first built up around it, and when I found out what the show was about it didn't interest me at all.. I finally decided to give it a go maybe last year? When I started watching, I was instantly hooked from the very beginning! Another show I have been mildly OBSESSED with is Gossip Girl.. This was another show that didn't catch my interest at all while it was on television and I have to say, I can't believe I waited so long to actually watch this show! I have been binge watching it since last month, and I just can't get enough! (I am all Team Chuck and Blair)

Food:

My favourite food this month has been eggs and English muffins. Nothing fancy there, it's been my go to for breakfast this month.

Makeup:

I only have a couple makeup favourites this month, and I've decided that I should try and start using different products to change things up a bit? Like I've said before, I'm a creature of habit so when I find something I like that works for me I stick to it.

My favourites this month were:

  • Maybelline The Rocket Mascara in Brownish Black
  • Wet N Wild Eye Shadow Single in Brulee
  • Wet N Wild Eye Shadow Trio in Sweet As Candy
  • Essence 3D Eyeshadow Duo in Irresistible Caramel Cream
Neutral eye shadows, nothing new there! I've been a fan of Wet N Wild and Essence for a while now and I just LOVE how affordable their products are! Not only that, but the quality is excellent! Every shadow I've tried has always been super pigmented, they last all day, there's no creasing or fallout and they blend very well! These shadows with the exception of Brulee, all have some shimmer in them, SO if you're not into that they also have some matte options!

I'd say Maybelline is a favourite brand of mine and has been since I first started wearing makeup. I picked up the Rocket Mascara when it first came out, but it was in Blackest Black and it was also the waterproof version. I love that one, but I picked up a softer colour and in the regular formula because I've been more into non waterproof mascara more recently. I like wearing a black brown coloured mascara when I'm doing very minimal/natural looking makeup, I'll just put on some BB cream and mascara and I'm set. I like that it opens your eyes up and makes you look more awake but it also gives your eyelashes some volume and length while still looking natural.

O.O Sorry for the super paleness that is my arm haha (I'm pigment challenged I guess! I couldn't tan to save my life! Pale People Problems...) Anyway, the top 2 colours are from the Essence Eyeshadow Duo and the rest are Wet N Wild.
Perfume:

I have been using my Warm Vanilla Sugar body spray quite a lot, it's been my go to scent, but when I want to change it up I've been switching between two other scents: Beautiful Day and Amber Blush. Beautiful Day is a very light fruity with hints of floral kind of scent. It's a combination of Apple, Pear, Daises, and Peonies. I love this scent for Spring and I'll most likely be getting good use out of it this Summer. Amber Blush is sort of the opposite, it's a very deep rich berry/fruity sort of scent. It has a combination of different fruits and with a few floral notes. I feel this was more of a Fall/Winter scent (which is when I picked both of these scents up) however I've never been the kind to designate a fragrance to a certain time of the year.. If I like it, I'll wear it regardless of the season!

Body:

I have been LOVING Burt's Bees Milk and Honey Lotion and their Shea Butter Body Wash. I have been using them together and I've really noticed that my skin is a lot softer and much more hydrated! If you want to read more about them you can in my post about Burt's Bees here

Hair:

I've been using this shampoo and conditioner from Paul Mitchell since January and I really wish I bought the full sized version instead of the travel size while I was back home, but my suitcase was already super full and I honestly had zero room left... I have a dry scalp and all around dry hair, so my stylist used the Tea Tree Special Shampoo and Conditioner on my hair and it was AMAZING from the first use! It made my scalp feel nice and cool and my hair was so shiny and silky soft! They didn't have the Tea Tree Special Shampoo in the travel size so they gave me a Lemon Sage Thickening Shampoo from their Tea Tree line. I like how they smell together, but I wouldn't say the shampoo gives me any kind of volume. They do make my scalp feel really clean and refreshed though, which is a big reason as to why I like them.

Nailpolish:

I've been really into bright Spring type colours recently (in hoping that Spring will finally get here!) I recently picked up a Sinful Colors Nailpolish from Target (I had NO idea they sold Sinful Colors! I had to crouch down and look at the very bottom to find them!) It's a GORGEOUS Berry Pink colour and as soon as I put it on my nails it became an instant favourite! The other two nailpolishes I've had for a while now, but never thought to pair them together until recently. I used Essence Color and Go polish in Hello Marshmallow (a very pretty lavender colour) and I put Sally Hansen's Diamond Nails polish in Pulled Sugar (a very pale almost white pearlescent pink glitter) on top of that and I got an almost metallic shimmery looking lavender. I'm currently wearing this combination and loving it!

Shoes:

Since the snow has been letting up recently, I decided to put the UGGs aside and break out some cuter shoes! I'm still wearing boots, because they are more practical in this weather, but they are super cute slouchy booties that I got from Walmart a couple years back for like $15!

That does it for part one lovelies!
Stay tuned for part two!

Crafty Tuesday!

I decided to do a cute little felt dog this week and I think he turned out quite cute! I chose to make a husky, because my hubby and I really want a dog and we both really want a husky unfortunately, we won't be able to have a puppy for a while yet... BOO! Any way, this little pup should be up in my Etsy shop tomorrow, so stay tuned!

until next time lovelies!

Burt's Bees!

I've only tried a few lip balms from Burt's Bees, mostly because I find their products to be a little on the expensive side. Especially when there are other brands that sell similar products for a better price... (however they usually aren't natural like Burt's products, but price point right now is more important to me than the ingredients... Don't get me wrong, if I can get something organic or natural or chemical free or what have you at a decent price then of course I'll go for that option.) I came across this Welcome Back box from Burt's Bees on Facebook, unfortunately this box is not available on their US site, it's only available on their Canadian site.. For $36 (shipping included in that price) I got a box with 7 full sized products and 4 samples which they say is worth about $75 I felt like that was a great deal and I couldn't pass up the opportunity to try some new products! I like the fact that these products are made mainly with natural ingredients, and their packaging is made from recycled materials. (I'll post links to each product in case you wanted to try anything..) I loved the box these items came in and I think I'll be keeping it and using it to store other things later!

The FULL SIZED  products I received were:
  • Naturally Nourishing Milk and Honey Body Lotion for normal to dry skin
  • Güd from Burt's Bees Natural Body Lotion in Floral Cherrynova
  • Naturally Nourishing Milk and Shea Butter Body Wash
  • Tinted Lip Balm in Rose
  • Lip Gloss in Ruby Moon
  • Ultra Conditioning Lip Balm with Kokum Butter
  • Cranberry and Pomegranate Replenishing Body Bar
The SAMPLES I received:
  • 2 Brightening Dark Spot Corrector Face Cream with Daisy Extract
  • Daily Moisturizing Cream for sensitive skin with Cotton Extract
  • Intense Hydration Night Cream with Clary Sage

I have yet to try the sample creams, and the body bar. I'll have to try out the face creams and maybe review them at a later time... I don't know if I'll get around to using the body bar, mostly because I use body wash instead of bar soaps.. I do like cranberry and pomegranate so who knows? It may or may not end up in another post...

Burt's Bees Cranberry & Pomegranate Replenishing Body Bar 5 oz

I have to say that when I first opened this to smell it, I didn't much care for the scent.. After applying it and letting it settle into my skin I actually like how it smells... It's a very light and sweet scent that lingers long after I applied it. It definitely does what it says: it's not greasy, absorbs quickly and it leaves my skin feeling very soft. I feel like I'll be getting good use out of this in the Summer, because it's very hydrating but its also very lightweight. The package says it's 99.0% natural and it is naturally scented, which I like because I don't like harsh perfumes in my lotion they tend to dry out my already dry skin...

Burt's Bees Milk & Honey Body Lotion, 12 Fluid Ounces

I really love the scent of this lotion, it's a delicious combination of Cherry Blossom and Almond Milk. I found it does get a little over powering for me personally and I had to wash it off.. (I think I used too much... A little definitely goes a long way!) The scent still lingers long after I washed it off, but it wasn't as over bearing.. I'll have to think of a different way to apply it, perhaps on my legs this summer? It absorbs quickly, also isn't greasy and has no parabens, phthalates, or petrochemicals. It is hydrating and left my skin feeling soft, I wish I weren't so sensitive to stronger scents.. (boo) (PS How cute is that packaging??)

Gud Floral Cherrynova Natural Body Lotion, 8 Fluid Ounces

This body wash smells delicious! It's a very light subtle scent combination of Milk and Shea Butter and I found that the scent lingers slightly in the washroom after I took a shower, but it didn't seem to last on my skin... I was worried at first how well this product would lather, being made of 98.5% natural ingredients and this body wash is very liquid-y/runny, I didn't think it would lather up hardly at all... I was surprised at how well it did! I was VERY skeptical about the claim that this body wash will leave your skin feeling "soft and supple from head to toe" but after I got out of the shower my skin immediately felt so soft! I think I'll be replacing my current body wash with this one for a while..

Burt's Bees Milk and Shea Butter Body Wash, 12 oz

This came in a rather interesting packaging. The tinted lip balm was in a sort of card board like tube. I love that this balm is just that! It makes my lips feel really soft and silky smooth. It's very hydrating, and it gives my lips a very slight hint of colour.. I feel if my lips were a lighter shade I would get more colour pay off from this, but I like that the colour isn't too much so I could wear it on a regular basis and not feel like I'm wearing a lipstick or something similar. The colour also doesn't seem to transfer off when I wiped my lips or kissed my hubby, which we both liked ha ha! I didn't notice much of a scent either.

Burt's Bees Tinted Lip Balm Rose -- 0.15 oz

This lip gloss is GORGEOUS and I just love the tube it comes in! It's a super rich, very pigmented, shimmer-y cranberry/raspberry sort of colour. It applies so smoothly and gives your lips a slight stain. It's not sticky, but feels a little on the dry side so I would recommend using a lip balm before hand. It has an unusual scent that I can't quite figure out, however I don't think that the scent alone would sway me enough to not use it..

Burt's Bees Lip Gloss, Ruby Moon, 0.2 Fluid Ounces

I LOVE the lip balms from Burt's! This balm is definitely ultra conditioning and leaves my lips feeling really hydrated and soft. It has a light almost citrus scent to me, which I found quite refreshing. This balm is hypo allergenic and made with a combination of  Kokum, Shea, and Cocoa Butters which are all great for hydrating and moisturizing the skin. It's so creamy and literally feels like butter on your lips (in a good way!) I think this one may be my favourite lip balm yet!

Burt's Bees Ultra Conditioning Lip Balm with Kokum Butter, 1 Count

On the left is the tinted lip balm and on the right is the lipgloss

All in all I would say that these products were definitely worth buying!
I'm always interested in trying new and different products!

That's all for now lovelies!

Crafty Tuesday!

This week I decided to finish a little project I started for myself maybe back in January?? It's not going up in my shop, but I did decide to start crafting more so here it is! I did a cross stitch of a Prinny! Prinnies are cute little creatures from Disgaea, who were bad guys in their past lives so now their souls are trapped in the body of a Prinny and they are forced to live in the Underworld to pay off their debts. They are under the reign of the evil tyrant Queen Etna, who loves to abuse her minions. I think Prinnies are super cute and I love their spunky attitudes, foul mouths and bad habits. If you own a PSP I suggest checking out Prinny: Can I Really Be The Hero? and Prinny 2 Operation Panties DOOD! They are really fun games, but they can make you a little crazy when the levels get harder! I love Prinnies so much I named one of my budgies Prinny! (Unfortunately he passed away last year from cancer, so I made this little dood in honour of my little dood...)

Anyway here's my Prinny:

I miss him every day...

That's all for now lovelies!

Crafty Tuesday!

I wanted to get back into crafting and making things for my Etsy, so I decided to push myself to try and create a new plush once a week! I really do love sewing and crafts and I just feel like I haven't been really dedicated to it recently... I wanted to make this an every Monday sort of thing, but my Glam Bag came yesterday and I always have the incredible urge to share what I got with everyone right away.. Any way, This week I made a cute and cuddly bunny with a funny little mustache and a smart looking bow tie! I was thinking about what to make and I randomly decided on a bunny with a 'stache... He came out really adorable looking and you'll be able to find (and buy) him in my Etsy shop! I'll be doing quick posts on here to display my newest plush each week, so stay tuned!

Until next week lovelies!

My March Ipsy Glam Bag!

I got my glam bag today in the mail just as I was going out to get lunch and a coffee... Of course I HAD to take it with me in the car, because I couldn't wait to tear the bag open to see what came! (ha ha lame... I know) I have to say that this bag was ALMOST perfect! I got a coconut scented lotion, which I really dislike anything coconut, so that's why this bag was nearly perfect. I love everything I got this month aside from the coconut scent... I love the lotion its self, I'm just not crazy for the scent.. I may give it away to someone, or I might try to come around to the thought of coconut and actually use it... Who knows... Enough rambling on let's get to the goodies! If you're not signed up to ipsy and want to check it out, you can find everything you need to know here

This month's theme is Destination Beauty:

This month's goodies:
  • Pacifica Indian Coconut Nectar Body Butter
  • Be A Bombshell Eyeshadow Quad in Bora Bora
  • Nicole by OPI Nailpolish in On What Grounds?
  • Bare Minerals Marvelous Moxie Lipstick sample in the shade Get Ready
I was so excited to get an item from Pacifica, I have only gotten one other item from them and I was even more excited to see that it was a lotion because I've heard good things about their lotions, until I saw the scent... I know some people LOVE coconut, however I am not one of them... I was hoping for some other fruity kind of scent...
These shadows are GORGEOUS! They feel so silky and they are SUPER pigmented! I can't wait to try them out!
I CAN'T wait to wear this nail polish! It's a Gorgeous Robin's Egg Blue with some darker blue flecks in it. This colour is PERFECT for Spring!
This is a lovely dark nude-y pink colour.  (Just the kind I like! ha ha)
This photo doesn't do those shadows justice! They are so much prettier in person! The top 4 colours are from the Bombshell quad and the bottom colour is the Bare Minerals lipstick

That's it for this month lovelies!
What goodies did you get this time around??

Mission Complete! (Yesterday's Adventure)

I have to say, from a gamer stand point, that yesterday was quite successful! It was a good day in general, I finally cleaned up the mess that was accumulating in my bed room, which I always find therapeutic. Cleaning brings a sense of calm and even happiness to me and I find it very difficult and slightly depressing to live in a messy or cluttered surrounding. My hubby worked a morning shift, so we actually had most of the day to spend together, and I'm always grateful and happy about that. We decided to go out for dinner and we went to Applebees. I have to say that the last time we went there was a lot better... I usually never order a burger of any kind at a restaurant, so I'm not entirely sure why I did yesterday.. It was fairly good, but entirely too greasy.. Their mozzarella sticks on the other hand are pretty tasty! Any way, the main objective of yesterday's adventure was to hunt down and obtain a Nintendo! I've wanted one for the longest time and I kick myself for waiting until now to acquire one... I decided Wednesday that we were just going to go get one, because I can be quite random and spontaneous that way... We went to a little shop down town that specializes in "Vintage Gaming" called A&C Games, I highly recommend giving this place a visit if you're a gamer and if you live in and around Toronto! They have a pretty extensive and AMAZING selection for every system, and they also carry the newer games. You can find them on Facebook and online. (They buy, sell, and trade all games, systems and accessories. They also rent games!) I was in a nerdy gamer heaven and I realized how much of a nerd I really am, because I found myself humming along to the game music they had playing.. (Only I would get excited and start humming and bobbing along to the Chocobo theme in the middle of a store with about a dozen strangers around me...) OKAY so, Long story short, WE NOW HAVE A NINTENDO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ha ha! I felt like a kid on Christmas and my little nerdy heart was overfilled with an indescribable joy! Also the gamer inside of me was doing the victory dance... (Yes I am THAT much of a nerd and damned proud of it!) We picked up 2 games: TMNT 2 (the arcade one) and Bart Simpson vs. The World. The Nintendo also came with Mario/Duck Hunt so we didn't have to buy it! I'm even more excited for my sister to come up and visit me this summer, so we can play some turtles and Mario like the old days!

Yesterday's makeup selection..

Sporting fishtail pig tails, it was random and I think the first time I've ever had pig tails LOL

Mozzarella Sticks

My Burger with Fries (I had the Cowboy Burger, I think it was called...)

My hubby's dinner (He had the bacon cheese burger and a chicken noodle soup.)

An apple bite for dessert! YUM!

I LOVED THIS! It's the TTC Subway Map in a Mario 3 World Map form!

Finally! Isn't it just beautiful?! My collection is nearly complete!

That was my awesome (or not so awesome if you're not into video games) adventure, I'm looking forward to the weekend!
Maybe we can get some family and friends over to play some NES!
