Shopping Adventures!

Hello Again!!

I LOVE to shop! I don't shop as often as I used to, but when I do get the chance to its always a fun time! (for me at least ha ha ha my hubby on the other hand is probably bored out of his mind like 98% of the time) Today's adventure lead us to the Yorkdale Mall and to Walmart. I love Walmart; not as much as Target, but I still love it quite a lot... Canada is new to the world of Target, this girl however is not, so when I found out last year that we were getting some Target stores around Ontario I was so stoked! Lame I know, but I don't care! There are only a few that are actually open right now, so we still do a lot of our shopping at Walmart. Any way on to the shopping, we went to the mall because Bath and Body Works is having their semi annual sale, and there was a candle I saw when we went shopping at Square One last Saturday that I should have gotten, but didn't, because lets face it I really didn't want to wait around in a HUGE line in a hot store for only one candle... This time around it was much less crowded and I tend to prefer my B&BW to other ones, because I know it well and I shop there the most. I picked up one candle and two hand soaps. (I have a small collection of both, however I haven't gotten any new soaps since Winter time and my supply is starting to dwindle...) I generally only buy soaps when they're on sale... (the buy 5 for $20 or whatever it is.) I feel that is a really good deal, considering each soap is regularly $5.50 CAD and that way I have a small stock pile of wonderful amazing smelling soaps to get me through to the next sale. Today their soaps were $3 CAD each, so I picked up my all time favourite, Peach Bellini and a new scent (to me at least) Vanilla Berry Sorbet. Both smell soooooooooooooo delicious! The candle I picked up was Mint Chocolate, and man let me tell you, it smells EXACTLY like mint chocolate chip ice cream! (Which happens to be my most favourite ice cream flavour ever!) They were having a 50% off on all the three wicked candles, which I usually never buy because they are normally ridiculously priced at around $22.50 CAD each. (I'd much rather get six of the small candles for nearly the same price) This scent however completely sold me (and also the fact that it was half off ha ha) and it is now the biggest candle in my small collection and I can't wait to burn it later!

Onto Walmart... Nothing too exciting... I needed some toothpaste, body wash, and sunscreen. I stopped by the make up aisle (no surprise there, of course my hubby HATES when I go down there because he's always so bored waiting around for me ha ha ha) I wasn't too excited about the selection my Walmart had, they usually don't have the best selection of products and lately I've been into getting Wet N' Wild products and other lower priced cosmetics (and FYI more expensive doesn't always mean better quality!) usually there is next to nothing on that end or I already have most of the good products they do have.. Instead I picked up four nail polishes for my ever growing nail polish collection... (I  see a trend going here with the whole "collecting" thing...HA HA) [problems....] Two are from N.Y.C. I LOVE this brand! They are normally 2 for $3 or $1.77 each, they come in a variety of gorgeous colours, and the "In A New York Minute" collection is my favourite, because they are super fast drying! (which is a big bonus for me because I tend to ruin my polish before it dries and then I either take it off, leave it as is or start all over again...... HUGE HEADACHE!!!) The colours I picked were: 242 Uptown, a nice shimmery bubble gum pink colour and 294 Lexington Yellow, A bright neon yellow (My hubby suggested I get yellow, so I went for a bright one!) I didn't own any yellow polishes until now... Next, I got a super hot pink colour from the brand Pure Ice in the colour 617 CP Flirt Alert. For the price ($1.97 CAD) Pure Ice is a pretty decent brand. They come in a rainbow of colours and they are really vibrant, they last pretty long without chipping and of course they are really affordable. I think this is the fourth one I now own. The only down side is that they can be streaky, so you have to apply thin layers and slowly build up the colour you want. Last but not least I picked out a Maybelline Color Show nail polish in the colour 190 Coral Crush (like I need any more pink polish right??) I recently picked up a neon coral polish from N.Y.C. but it was more on the orange side than the pink side, which is one reason I picked this one.

This is the stuff I bought. PS that sunscreen is my new favourite!

190 Coral Crush (I feel like this photo didn't do the colour justice...)

That was my shopping adventure! Did you buy awesome or not so awesome stuff lately??

Crafty Time! Pixel Art

Hi everyone!

Today's post is about crafts, and I am obsessed with crafting and I even told my hubby that if I could live in Michaels Craft Store I totally would! I would NEVER get bored there, because there is just so much potential and endless possibilities! I got into crafts at the beginning of 2009; I saw these adorable handmade dolls on Google and then I came across deviantart.com........ I decided I wanted to learn to make super cute things and thus my obsession began! (I LOVE Japanese/Anime style plushies and everything Kawaii!!) My very first creation was this pitiful looking pink bunny that was horridly stitched together and I used the worst type of fabric for a beginner and it frayed all over the place... I was so proud of that little bunny though, because it was something that I made with my own two hands. Any way fast forward a few months from my first creation and I came across these AMAZING works of art made out of  beads. I was enthralled in the world of 8-bit art and I HAD to learn how to make them! (Nostalgia coming on ha ha they reminded me so much of my childhood and the video games I grew up playing) It was like reaching into the television and pulling out your favourite Super Nintendo characters! SO I got some beads and a peg board and a cheap iron and got to crafting! The first thing I ever made was a small red mushroom from Mario Bros. 3 (No surprise here since Mario 3 is my ALL TIME FAVOURITE!) ha ha ha. The back of my bedroom door is now covered in these super cute 8-bit sprites and I may be in to making some more in the future, for now I have been sticking to plushies and if you would like to check out my Etsy feel free! (www.etsy.com/shop/stitchyworld) Crafting has become my second favourite hobby and passion, first of course being video games and my new third is make up and fashion! below I'll post some of my pixel sprites...

That's all for now!
Do you craft??

Video Game Buys!

Hi there!

So this is the nerdy part of this blog and one of my favourite things ever! Video games! We haven't really bought any new games in a while.. (I'm thinking Christmas was the last time) June is a special month for my hubby and I, it's his birthday month and both of our anniversaries fall a week apart from eachother! We have never been the kind to buy "traditional" gifts for anniversaries or Valentines, we usually buy each other something like games or books or whatever ha ha. That is why we have a few new goodies this month! The newest additions to our collection are:

  • God of War: Ascension
  • Family Guy: Back to the Multiverse
  • Bioshock: Infinite
  • Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon
  • Mario Kart 7
  • Tomb Raider
I have to say that I am really Impressed with each of these games!

I don't play God of War, but my hubby does and he loves it! (ever since I told him he should try it and if he didn't like it he could return it, because I'm awesome like that! That was a few years ago and ever since he has played the heck out of every God of War game) I like to watch him play. The graphics are stunning and the game play is amazing (with a few lags here and there, I'm sure the game has a few bugs but it isn't horribly noticeable) The story line is as always interesting and this is a prequel in case anyone was wondering... I'm not going to give away the story, but there are some new features and a new on-line multiplayer and of course some old features we have come to know with God of War like gorgon eyes, phoenix feathers, magic, irritating and hard puzzles (that a certain wife helps her hubby to figure out, even though he would probably never willingly admit it ha ha) buckets of blood and gore, a whole lot of naked chicks and mythical creatures that Kratos beats into oblivion with an array of powerful and awesome looking attacks. Definitely a game that appeals to the men in our lives, but it is fun to watch if you're not into actually playing the game for yourself!

Family Guy: Back to the Multiverse is so much fun! Especially since this game has a 2 player co-op for its story mode! My hubby and I were playing this game for hours ha ha.... As far as graphics go, this game isn't that impressive compared to other games in this post, but its still pretty decent and it looks pretty cartoon-y... The storyline is interesting and you get to be Stewie or Brian (How much better could it be?!) You get to run around different worlds and use a few cool weapons to aid in your battle against Stewie's arch nemesis Bertram. There are some awesome special items in addition to your own arsenal, like the Giant Chicken, Joe, Rupert in a box, Wacky Waving Inflatable Arm Flailing Tube Man (what a mouth full!!) and some others that all have useful abilities while playing through, these are especially helpful in the multiverse mode where you have to fight off waves of enemies without dying! (Hubby and I made it to round 20 something before dying) Trophies add some extra incentives to do stupid stuff like taunt your dead opponent with Quagmire or pick Meg to use in multiverse mode. If you're a Family Guy fan, and a game lover, I suggest giving this game a go! It really is so much fun!

Bioshock is another series my hubby loves, and I really like it too! What appealed to me besides the underwater city of Rapture and the Big Daddys/Little Sisters was the time period the first 2 Bioshock games were set in. (I have a fascination with the 50's) However, Bioshock: Infinite is set in 1912, and I have to say the commercials for this game did not sell me... I felt the game looked completely different from the original concept of Bioshock and I didn't think I would like it, surprisingly and thankfully I was wrong! The graphics are pretty amazing and the fact that this is set on a floating city is pretty awesome! I love the old time look and feel this game has, the characters and backgrounds are dressed in period clothing and the attention to detail is beyond comparable, which was another thing that drew me to Bioshock. You can acquire an arsenal of weapons and an array of magical powers just like the previous games and this time instead of saving Little Sisters, you're sent to break out a woman named Elizabeth who thankfully can take care of herself! I don't want to give anymore away, so if you're a Bioshock fan or are looking for something new and interesting to play this is a good option!

I have to admit I never thought about playing Luigi's Mansion when it first came out for the Game Cube. When I got my 3DS, I figured why not?? My hubby gave me the new one for our anniversary and it has fast become one of my favourites! Its a lot of fun to play and it takes a different spin on the Mario Bros. world. I am a huge Mario fan and never really cared for Luigi ( my sister or hubby is always second player when we play Mario Bros. and I am ALWAYS Mario! ha ha ha) This game has not entirely changed my opinion of Luigi, he acts like a scared-y cat and trembles through the mansion as you play the levels. He doesn't fight as Mario would but instead takes on a sort of Ghostbusters persona with cool paranormal gear/gadgets. The levels are fairly short, and are separated into Chapters, there are puzzles you have to figure out and when ever you get a new gadget you have to utilize it to figure out where to go or what to do next. The ghosts aren't hard to beat, though some can be more annoying than others. You can look for gems and collect coins to upgrade your gear and it's always fun to re-explore areas you have already been to when you get a new gadget. Overall I am really liking this game and I'm glad my hubby got it for me!

In my opinion the original Mario Kart for Super Nintendo and Mario Kart 64 are the best of the best in this series, but that doesn't mean I don't own or like to play the other varieties in this series! Personally I like heading off against other people when playing Mario Kart, (I am SUPER competitive! Blood shed is not uncommon when we play ha ha ha well maybe not, but I am that competitive!) so the hand held versions never really took centre stage for me, but I love to play them while travelling, since there isn't as much commitment to keep playing if I get to my destination or I get bored of playing (like say if I were playing a different game and in the middle of a huge boss fight I couldn't just quit) and there's no need to save. There are some new features in this version, new tracks, new items and an on-line mode.. There are also some tracks from previous games and there are some similarities to the Wii version like Kart stats and things like that... Pretty good game over all.

Now for my most favourite game of the group! I have been a long time fan of the Tomb Raider series and I own them all! Lara Croft certainly has come a long way from her PS One days. The graphics of this game are beyond words! Everything is so vivid and life like! The game play has really changed since Underworld; there are no distinct levels in this game, its all like one big level. There is no health bar like all the previous games, instead the health system is like Call of Duty. Instead of needing health packs you simply take cover and your health regenerates. She acquires various weapons as always, only this time she's a novice to the world of survival and weaponry. This game is the prequel to the Tomb Raider series and shows us how Lara Croft became the bad ass treasure hunter we all know and love. She is stranded on an island; alone for the most part, and has to learn to do everything in order to survive. (She has to find cover and hunt for food in the very beginning) By earning XP Lara can upgrade her gear, hunter and brawler techniques and also learn survivor skills. This game has in a sense has made me appreciate Lara Croft even more seeing her story trough this game (Yes I am aware she isn't real, but that doesn't stop me from respecting her all the same) Oh! I almost forgot to mention what a steal we got this game for! The original price for any new PS 3 game is around $60 CAD, we however scooped this baby up for half price brand spanking new! Thank you EB Games for enabling our game addiction ha ha ha!

                                                               That's all for now!
What kind of games have you picked up recently??

My June Ipsy Glam Bag!

Hello again!

As the title says this post is all about the June Ipsy Glam Bag!

This was my second bag, I'm still pretty new to the whole subscription boxes thing.. I've looked around at a lot of them and decided to give Ipsy a try, and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised! I feel like this was the best bang for my buck (14 bucks to be exact.. $10 +shipping) You get 4-5 deluxe beauty samples, and I feel that some of the products you get are actual full sized cosmetics. No little plastic pouch things here! (Which is why I went with Ipsy instead of Birch Box or Loose Button) I received a Loose Button Box for free a while ago and the only noteworthy thing and the ONLY thing I liked was the Essie Nail Polish I got.. Any way onto the  Glam Bag!

So it comes in a cute hot pink bubble mailer (in case you are new to the whole Glam Bag thing) Which I just love and I honestly look forward to getting my new bag each month! The way Ipsy works is you sign up at their website and there is usually a waiting list, (I was on the waiting list, but not for very long, I'm not sure how they work) you take a style quiz and then put in your credit card info and at the beginning of the month they charge you, and around the second week of the month you get your super adorable bag!

It looks like they go for a theme each month and this months theme was: On The Wild Side.

This is what it looks like and the products I received, super cute right?!

The products are:

  • Cailyn Waterproof Line Fix Gel Eyeliner in the colour Iron (I have yet to actually wear this, but it is a beautiful dark gray with some shimmer and boy is it waterproof! I swatched it on my arm to see what it looked like and when I tried to wash it off, it barely budged! I had to use a make-up remover wipe to get it off!) I'm not sure if I would use the brush it comes with because it seems to be too thick...
  • NYX Mosaic Powder in the colour Dare (This is the very first NYX product I own! I was so excited when I saw this, and lets be honest I had NO IDEA what this was hahaha from what I can tell its a blush? I feel like if I used the colours separately, this could be a blush and bronzer...)
  • 2 Items from a brand called J-Cat (I think the packaging is so cute with the cat in their logo! Of course I could just be a crazy cat lady.....) the first item is a pair of falsies, and I don't wear false lashes ever; but these seem pretty and I could use them on a special occasion or something... They say they are made from 100% human hair and they come with a latex free lash glue. The number for these lashes is C32. The second product is a sparkling cream palette in the colour Volta; and I'm feeling pretty mixed on this one... I love glitter and I usually wear shimmery eye shadows; however this stuff is super chunky and it gets EVERYWHERE when you try to remove it... I may try to use this sometime eventually, but it probably won't be until I can figure out where I can go and wear this bold glitter without looking too made up... (Apparently, this is a body glitter palette from what I have seen on Ipsy...)
  • Last up is a Gorgeous Coral Lip Liner from the brand Starlooks (they have their own subscription box and it may be the next one I go for) This is in the colour Tipsy and man it is so vibrant and creamy and I can't wait to use this! It just screams Summer!
Now for some pictures of the above mentioned products:

                                                                     Cailyn Gel Liner

                                                                   NYX Mosaic Powder

                                                                     J.Cat Lashes

  J.Cat Sparkling Cream Palette

Starlooks Lip Liner

If anyone who is reading this would like swatches, please let me know... I tried to get some photos of swatches, but none of them are worth posting... In my opinion anyway ha ha (FAIL)

That's all for now!

Why Hello There!

Hello everyone!

My Name is Samantha, although everyone just calls me Sammy, so I guess you can too! A little about me:

  • I live in Toronto, Canada
  • I'm originally from California
  • I am married (6 years now!)
  • I am 24 years old
  • I LOVE video games! (Hardcore over here LOL I've been playing video games since I was old enough to hold a Nintendo controller)
  • I love to watch anime and the weirder the better! (However, I still love the classics: Sailor Moon and Dragon Ball Z)
  • I collect random anime figures and scented candles.. Oh and those POP Vinyl figures! Love those!
  • I am OBSESSED with Owls I think they are soooooooooooooooo cute!
  • I love crafting and have my own Etsy Shop! www.etsy.com/shop/stitchyworld

As you may tell from the aforementioned information I am pretty nerdy/geeky, but I have a new love for make-up, beauty and fashion! I've worn make-up since I was maybe 14 or 15, but I never had anyone to teach me techniques and things like that... So one day I found this girl while I was looking around randomly on Pinterest, and she did beauty videos on YouTube... This was back in August of last year.. Needless to say I was hooked and I entered into this whole new world, and I was a little overwhelmed, but mostly excited to learn new things! Oh yes and that girl was Carli from Carlibel55.. She is gorgeous and so nice and I have really learned a lot from her, not to mention she opened up my world to other beauty gurus/vloggers.

I never had much make-up and I had almost no experience with how to apply it and all that other crazy stuff. Just watching videos of these gorgeous girls apply their make-up and what products they love inspired me to try new things and to learn to love make-up and myself, instead of just using it to cover up whatever flaws I felt I needed to cover.. (I used to NEVER leave the house without make-up) I suppose that's another story, not really.. I just never felt comfortable with myself to go without it...

Any ways that was sort of a ramble-y long introduction to why I decided to create this blog...
I am no expert and I will never EVER claim otherwise ha ha but I felt if I could share some things I love and learned maybe someone who was like I was a year ago can take something away from this. I'll be posting random things from all over the place like:

  • Ipsy Glam Bags
  • Beauty Buys
  • Fashion Buys
  • Video Games
  • Monthly Favourites
  • Food
  • Books I'm Reading
  • Songs I Can't Get Out of My Head
  • Nature
And really whatever other thing I feel like sharing with the world from my life..

That's about it for now!
