Maybelline The Nudes Palette! (Review)

This palette has been around for sometime now, and I've had it since September.. It has become my most reached for eyeshadow palette and I thought a review would be in order. I've only done 2 reviews so far which you can read here and here and I would like to continue to do more in the future. (I don't only post the good, if I don't like something, and I feel like it's worth posting about then I will..) I wanted to give this palette a good amount of use before sharing my thoughts about it.. I purchased the Maybelline The Nudes Palette from my local Shoppers Dug Mart on sale for $6.99 CAD, which is a heck of a steal because these run for about $13.99 CAD regular price... You get 12 eyeshadows, in a mix of matte and shimmer all in gorgeous warm neutral shades.. If you know me at all, in any aspect, you'll know that I love my neutral shadows ha ha.. I also have been a long time fan of Maybelline, it was the first brand I used when I started wearing makeup and I've loved it ever since. So I of course had to scoop one of these beauties up for myself! 

These eyeshadows are awesome!

• All day wear
• No creasing 
• Zero fallout
• Excellent blending
• Soft and silky feeling
• Pigmented 
• Buildable colour
• Best of all you get a ton of product for the price!

When I put on makeup, which isn't often these days, I'll usually wear it all day. The day I took these photos, I put my makeup on after I came home from school around 2pm and I took it off around 11pm. For a total of 9 hours of wear. My foundation didn't hold up as well, but my eyeshadow was still going strong! (The shadows I wore were 5, 10, and 11.)

January Top Box!

Realizing that today is the 3rd of February, I seem to have forgotten to post what I got in my January Top Box! I really need to start writing things down more..  >.>" I'm not overly enthusiastic about January's box, mostly because I only got one make up item and it wasn't something I see myself using.. (I also did not care for the scent at all..) I prefer to get make up in my bags or boxes, but I do love the skin care samples Top Box offers, they're more high end compared to anything I've gotten from Ipsy. Overall, I can say that I am happy with my January box and I can't wait to see what I'll be getting for February!

I've said before that I'm quite content with my Neutrogena wipes, and don't see myself changing them for another brand any time soon, so I have no real need for make up wipes.. That being said, these also have an unpleasant scent to them, and since I'm sensitive to perfumes and things of that nature I can't handle strong scents. I doubt I will be using these on my face.. I usually use these kinds of wipes to remove swatches from my hands and forearms. It works pretty well, I just wish they were unscented..

Kiss InstaWave Automatic Curler (Review)

Hello lovelies! Today I'm sharing with you a new type of hair curler, and I have to say that I'm feeling pretty excited about this! I want to say right from the top, that I was sent this item for free to try from BrandBacker.com. That being said, this post is not being paid for in any way and all opinions are my own. I was sent the KISS InstaWave Automatic Curler, and I have to admit that I was quite skeptical of this at first; mostly because my hair can't seem to hold a curl to save its life.. Also just because I'm wary of the whole As Seen On TV kind of items... I saw this curler at Walmart for $70 CAD...

• Here's a few tid-bits about this curler:

KISS InstaWave is a fully automatic tangle-free curler that instantly creates beautiful curls

Easy for anyone to use, from any angle, with any hand

Features a Curl Dial with left/right curl directions

Automatically shuts off after 90 minutes

2 heat settings with a low/high switch with maximum temperature of 420

• How to use the curler:

Hold InstaWave vertically

Simply place section of hair on the InstaWave curling rod

Touch the Curl Dial either left or right, and the InstaWave instantly and automatically catches and curls the hair

Hold for 5-10 seconds, hold longer for tighter curls and less for beachy waves

Pull the InstaWave down vertically, letting hair out

**Tip: Switch between curling right and curling left to create the most natural looking curls

 For me personally, this curler didn't give me AMAZING, super gorgeous, breath taking goddess type curls, but my hair doesn't hold a curl well to begin with. (Yes, my hair fails at life ha ha ha) I kept the curls in for about 15 seconds (on the high setting) before releasing them from the wand, and even then they were more wavy rather than tight curls. This wand is actually tangle free, (just like it claims on the box) even with my hair, which was a pleasant surprise! I found that after using it a couple more times I got better results, but I still had to hold my hair for about 15-20 seconds. I feel like this would be amazing for someone who can actually curl their hair (like my sister... Yes I am completely jealous that she can have super bouncy lush curls that hold all day WITHOUT a whole can of hair spray.. *evil eyes* It's ok, I still love her haha) for me however, this is still the best product I've used so far that makes decent curls in my hair that actually last a couple of hours.

After breaking the curls up, I just combed through my hair with my fingers to make them look a little more natural

My January Ipsy Glam Bag!

I missed out on posting December's bag; but I want to start up my Glam Bag Favourites again, so keep an eye out for that in the near future! I didn't much care for the bag itself this month, it was very plain to me, but I was pretty excited for the items I received! I can't wait to try them all out!

Happy New Year!

Long time no post! I apologize for being MIA so to speak.. I have been absolutely swamped with school, then I went back home for Christmas and I wanted to spend all my time with my family... I was having some anxiety about keeping up with my blog and it was getting to the point where it wasn't fun for me any more and I didn't want to post things for the sake of posting.. It's not how I do things, I don't want to half ass things and I don't want to put anything out there just to say I did.. I want everyone to love what I write as much as I love writing it. If I don't love what I'm doing, I really can't justify myself in doing it, so I had to take a break and step back for a while. It's always been in the back of my mind to get back at posting, because I really do enjoy my blog and I really did miss it. I couldn't just let it go or delete it, SO I decided its time to dust off the horse and get back on it! (is that even a thing? ha ha well I'm making it one!) I'm not entirely sure how often I'll be posting, but I want to aim for AT LEAST once a week! I would love to get back into my hobbies again, since they've been pushed to the wayside since about the time I started school... All work and no play is good for no one... Anyway! If you've missed reading here, I'm back! If you're new, welcome!  Let's make 2015 an incredible year! It has some pretty big shoes to fill from 2014, but I'm excited and can't wait to see where this year will take me!

Currently it's quite cold here in Toronto haha!

My November Ipsy Glam Bag!

I can't believe November is half way over already! Christmas, and my birthday are steadfastly approaching! (happy Snoopy dance) November's theme is Girl Meets Glitter and can I just say how excited I am about this bag?! I'm quite pleased with each of my items and I'm also loving the bag. (It's VERY sparkly!) Check out IPSY if you're interested in subscribing! I tried out 4 of my 5 items the other day and I have to say that I'm really satisfied with each of them. The only thing I didn't try was the highlighter, mostly because I've never used one before... Enough about that, let's get to the good stuff!

I like the scent of this hairspray, and I like that it doesn't make my hair feel crunchy. I don't know if this actually gives any volume, because I had my hair up when I used it, but it does hold well and overall I'm pretty happy with it.

This looks much darker in the tube than it actually is. It's a lovely berry coloured lip paint that blends out quite nicely. I don't normally go for dark and bold lips, so when I wore this I dabbed small amounts on my lips at a time and rubbed it in until I got the desired colour I was looking for. I expected this to be drying, but it surprisingly wasn't.

I normally prefer the sponge applicators for liquid liners, and I wasn't sure how well this brush would apply the product to my eyelids. I was surprised that this brush was not only incredibly easy to use, but the product glided on my lid and was very opaque.

I LOVE this eye base! It's a gorgeous shimmery gold that blends onto my eyelids nicely. The only thing with this was that it made my eyeshadow that I placed on top VERY dark, which is not necessarily a bad thing, but I'm not used to wearing dark eyeshadow... I think next time I'll just wear this beauty by itself.

October Top Box!

I hope everyone had a really fun, safe, and spooky Halloween! I was insanely busy last week; mostly getting ready for Halloween and a Halloween party that my hubby and I were invited to, so this post had to be postponed until now ha ha! I think overall I like Top Box, and I've decided to keep my subscription for the time being. The items I received for October were pretty good, they were all a decent size, and I felt I got a good variety of items. I only tried one of my four items, but I am excited to eventually try out everything! I think I may start doing a Top Box Favourites kind of post the way I have done with my Ipsy Glam Bags.

October's Items were:

• The Balm Cosmetics How 'Bout Them Apples? Lip and Cheek Cream

• Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Eye Serum Synchronized Complex II

"At the cutting edge of innovation, BIODERMA has pioneered micellar solutions. Specially formulated for sensitive, normal to dry skins, the Sensibio H2O micelle solution gently cleanses face and eyes. It removes water-resistant make-up." 250 mL, $21.95 available at Shoppers Drug Mart and other drug stores. For me personally, I liked this product, but I felt like it doesn't do the job that my Neutrogena wipes do. I think it would be good for days I don't wear much make-up, or even when I run out of make-up wipes. It's not a terrible product by any means, but I'll stick to my $9 pack of wipes haha..

"A multi-functioning lip and cheek cream palette. Each freshly picked color is formulated to have a smooth finish that won't streak or fade, so there are no bad apples in this bunch!" 20g, $32 Available at thebalm.com. I have to admit that I would probably only use this on my lips, because I'm quite intimidated by not only red blush, but also cream products. I may get adventurous and try it out, who knows?

The Balm How 'Bout Them Apples, lip and cheek cream in Pie.

It is effective in all weather conditions, and is great for scrunch drying, styling with brushes, defuse-drying, or just drying naturally." These products are available from frizzoff.com and range in price from $10-46 So. I do have frizzy hair, especially when it's humid out and I'm definitely interested in seeing how this will work with my hair! Unfortunately, I do not have curly hair, so I'm a little skeptical...

I was most excited about this item, I'm always looking for a good eye cream and if this does the job then I may just have to splurge and buy the full sized version.
