Fan Expo Canada!

Last Saturday my hubby and I went to the Fan Expo Convention that is held here every year at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre in Downtown Toronto. I've wanted to go for a while but for one reason or another we've never been able to go, so we finally decided that we were going to go no matter what this year! The convention this year was 4 days long, unfortunately, my hubby and I were only available to go for one day and that was Saturday.. Next year we plan to go for at least two days if possible. If you're not familiar with Fan Expo, or conventions in general, this is a big show that hosts a number of different genres under one roof! There was a variety of awesome stuff to see: from sci-fi, horror, anime, video games and all kinds of other nerdy things in between! I was in heaven!

There were over 900 vendors selling various goodies like plushies, action figures, statues, video games, and tee-shirts and hats. Of course I wanted to buy EVERYTHING! Ha ha! I really had to stop myself from buying all the cool collectibles, because some were quite pricey.

There were also a good mix of different celebrities you could meet! Again, I had to choose only one, because the meet ups and autographs were really expensive.. Le sigh... I chose to meet my all time favourite WWE Diva Trish Stratus! If you didn't know this about me already, I'm a huge wrestling fan! I grew up watching wrestling with my dad and even though I'm not into it much these days, wrestling will always hold a special place in my heart. It is after all the reason I met my husband! (That might be left for another post though haha) I had such a blast, and I'm so glad I finally got to meet Trish! She's such a lovely and sweet person! Oh and totally GORGEOUS! (but I think that goes without saying haha) I went for a photo op with Trish and Amy Dumas (or Lita) later in the day and my hubby and I are still really surprised that Trish remembered us! It was really cool that she still remember who we were and our names even after meeting tons of other people that day. I wish I could have chatted with both of them, since I only met with Trish, Amy really seemed nice but we didn't get to talk. Perhaps the next time they come back?

Aside from the celebrities, there were also a ton of cosplayers! Some of them were really impressive, maybe one day I'll venture out and try cosplaying! Any way, the show was really amazing and I can't wait to go back next year, even if it was really packed and the lines were long it was so worth it!

That's all for now lovelies!
If you're in Toronto, did you visit Fan Expo? If so what was your favourite part?
If not, or if you live elsewhere, is there a similar convention that you've been to?

August Top Box!

I have to say, I'm pretty impressed with my top box this month! The samples were all a decent size, and  they were things that I would actually like to try and use! I figured I'd keep my subscription for at least a couple more months and see how I feel then. I opted for a regular box this time instead of one of the special ones they were offering.

This month I received:

  • Pur-Lisse SPF 30 Sunscreen for normal to dry skin
  • Belvada Nail Polish Remover Pads (Lemon Scented)
  • Wild Flower Macadamia Oil Hand Cream
  • China Glaze Nail Polish in Seas The Day
I have already received a sample of this in one of my Ipsy bags, however I always like getting sunscreen, so I was happy to get this as a sort of duplicate.
I'm interested in trying these! They're acetone free so, I'm wondering how well they will work, As for the lemon scent, I like it pretty well! It's much better than the regular scent of nail polish remover. (To me at least.)
I love getting lotion, so I was excited about this hand cream! Macadamia oil is good for dry hands and because I not only have dry skin to begin with, but I also have to frequently wash my hands while I'm working in the lab at school, my hands tend to get really dried out, so this should prove quite useful!
This color is so gorgeous! I used it on my toes last week and its a lovely berry colour. It looks like a bright pink in the photo, but it's actually more of a bright red berry.

That's all for this month's Top Box!
Have you tried any new subscriptions lately?

My August Ipsy Glam Bag!

August seems to be flying by! I can't believe it's almost over, and with the end of August looming, the end of summer is coming fast which means fall is just around the corner! I can't wait! Check out Ipsy here! Anyway, on to the good stuff!

This month's theme is Beauty Schooled; which to me is a perfect fit since it's back to school time, also, the bag this month  is so cute!

My August goodies were:

  • Jersey Shore Sun Mongongo Anti-aging Lip Conditioner
  • StriVectin Present Perfect Antioxidant Defense Lotion
  • Manna Sheer Glo Shimmer Lotion
  • Coastal Scents Eyeshadow Sample Set 1
  • Urban Decay Perversion Mascara
So far the only thing I've tried was the perversion mascara, and I have to admit I'm not wowed. I feel like it does a sub-par job on my lashes, considering it's UD and is not exactly cheap... Also, I have a few other mascaras from much more affordable brands that do a way better job. That was just my first impression anyway. I'm excited to use the eye shadows from Coastal scents! They are super pigmented, so silky soft and smooth, and they just glide on! I really want to buy a ton of their single shadows because of their quality and affordability! I did feel that this month's bag was a little lacking, usually Ipsy is always spot on and more than generous with their sample sizes and the items I get suit me almost perfectly. I'm still content with this month's bag over all and I'm really looking forward to what September will bring!

The colours starting from top left are: Thunderous, Reef Blue, Paris Green, and Cloud White.
Cloud white, Paris green, Reef blue, and Thunderous.

That's it for this month's glam bag!
Until next month lovelies!

Limited Edition Lou Lou Box By Top Box!

I'm still on the fence about my Top Box subscription, however I decided to buy a limited edition box that they offer for purchase separately from your subscription. I picked out the Lou Lou box from a selection of maybe 5 boxes and I chose this one because it seemed to fit my tastes more than the others. These limited edition boxes run for $40 CAD each and you don't need a subscription (as far as I know) to Top Box to order them. Be advised that they only ship out orders when they send out their monthly boxes.. I got 10 items in my box and I can't wait to try everything out! (If you were wondering Lou Lou is a Canadian branded magazine.) I'd love to maybe do individual reviews of these products when I get some free time!

The Lou Lou Box comes with:

  • Essie Nail Polish in Bikini so teeny
  • Essie Nail Polish in E-nuf is E-nuf
  • Makeup Forever Mist and Fix O2 Setting Spray
  • Shu Uemura Cleansing Oil Shampoo
  • Shu Uemura Cleansing Oil Conditioner
  • Yves Rocher Oriental Velvety-Skin Scrub
  • KMS California Free Shape Quick Blow Dry Spray
  • Vasanti Lipstick in Hot Brit
  • Clinique Repairwear Laser Focus Eye Cream
  • Teeez Cosmetics Desert Metal Mascara in Midnight Sky

That's all for now lovelies!
