Nerd Block! (Nerdy Gamer Subscription Box)

I wanted to share a different kind of subscription with you guys. I've been subscribed to Nerd Block for almost a year now, and I love it! It's a little more on the expensive side as subscription boxes go, but to me, it's worth every penny! (I believe it's about $20 USD??) It appeals to both my husband and I, so if there's an item that I'm not particularly into, my hubby will like it and vice versa. So what is Nerd Block? It is a nerdy subscription service that offers different kinds of awesome boxes to its customers. I'm subscribed to the Arcade Block, which is a video game themed box. They also have the Classic Block, Horror Block,(A friend of mine is subscribed to that and loves it) Scifi Block, Comic Block, and a Jr Block that you can customize for a boy or girl. Each month you get a box with a tee shirt and 4-5 items specific to the theme of your box. (If you're interested, you can check out Nerd Block HERE.) Unlike my other subscriptions, this one gets shipped on the 25th of every month, so I get it at the end instead of the beginning. The arcade block comes in a box that looks like a classic NES, and I have to say, that seeing that box on my door step each month never gets old! Onto January's goodies! The Games featured for January's box were: Street Fighter, Pokemon, Portal, Metroid, Mario, and Mortal Kombat.
  • Street Fighter V shirt
  • Trainer Beanie
  • Portal Safety First Tin Sign
  • Morphball Stress Reliever
  • Puzzle Cube
  • Mortal Kombat X Scorpion Bobble Head
The shirt this month was Street Fighter V inspired, and came in 2 designs, either Ryu or Ken, and we got Ken. Which is a plus, because my hubby likes Ken more than Ryu. The tee shirts are usually a toss up between my husband and I, but mostly he gets the shirts. I don't wear tee shirts often anyway. I have gotten a couple of really awesome ones in the past though!
The trainer beanie is so cool! And perfect for winter ha! My husband and I are total Pokemon junkies, so it was a win. I stole it though mwahahaha!
The portal sign definitely appeals to the science nerd in me, and its just hilarious. I'll have to find a good place to hang it on the wall.
The morphball made me giggle a little bit, Samus is my favorite Smash Bros, character, and I loved Super Metroid, so I thought the ball was really cute and a clever way of implementing a character into something as simple as a stress ball.
I've never been too much into rubix cubes, but this Super Mario themed one has me changing my mind! Again, a very cleaver way to implement video games into a nerdy object that's been around forever.
This was the coolest item in this box this month, my husband and I are fans of the Mortal Kombat series and Scorpion is his favorite, I'm more of a Sub Zero gal, but this bobble head is really bad ass and a nice addition to our gamer collection.

That's all for today!
I am so excited for February's box, each month you get a teaser card about some of the items that will be featured in the next box, and February is going to have Zelda and Sonic the Hedgehog items! 2 of my favorite game series!

February Top Box!

I'm pretty content with my February box, I like that the items are always varied and as far as I can remember, I have yet to get duplicate products. I wasn't thrilled with the soap that I got, mostly because the scent is too strong for me to handle, but other than that, I'm happy with my items.

I received:

  • Bliss Fabulous Drench 'n' Quench Moisturizer
  • Morgan Taylor Professional Nail Lacquer in the color Later Alligator
  • Nova Scotia Fisherman EXtreme Skin Care Sea Salt Soap
  • Smashbox Photo Finish Classic Primer
Moisturizer
After cleansing skin with bliss fabulous foaming face wash massage bliss drench 'n' quench onto face and neck for 30 seconds, allowing marine micro-droplets to lock-in hydration. 50mL. $48 at Sephora and Sephora,ca
So far I like this moisturizer, it's got a light and fresh scent, it absorbs quickly and leaves my skin feeling really soft. I don't feel like I've used this enough to notice any difference in my skin as far as hydration and that is concerned. I'll have to give it some more time.

Nail Lacquer
It's what's inside that counts. Inspired by luminous pearls, raw gems, semi-precious stones, glimmering silvers, and radiant gold all drawn from the earth. All pigments are saturated, pure, and finely milled for luminous metallics, never before seen shimmers, decadent cremes, stunning sheers and more glistening glitters. 15mL. $15.83
I wish there were more of a description to this polish, but I can say that it's really opaque and I only needed one coat, which is really impressive for a nail polish. It also dries pretty quickly and a little really goes a long way.

Soap
This naturally scented soap is perfect to nourish your dry winter skin. The organic Shea butter provides a satiny feel you will love! 116g. $5.95 Available at Sobey's, Wholefoods, Natural food stores near you or Online at NovaScotiaFisherman.com
I want to give this a try, despite the scent, because I like the other products from this brand that I've gotten in the past, I also like the idea that this is made with natural ingredients and is made for dry skin.

Primer
Worn alone or under foundation, our best-selling, oil-free primer helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines and pores for flawless skin with a velvety-smooth finish. 30mL Available at Smashbox.com
This is one of my all time favorite primers! I pair this with POREfessional by Benefit and together they make my foundation glide on and my skin looks so flawless! Also this small 7.1mL sample size lasts forever! I've had one that I'm still currently using since about October and it's still got plenty of product in it. I was really excited to get another one of these ha ha!

That's all for today lovelies!

My February Ipsy Glam Bag!

I have to say, that I loved my bag for February, however I was left underwhelmed by the contents. The theme for this month is Pretty In #IpsyPink and the bag has a super cute 8-bit envelope with a love heart on the front and a bright pink color on the back.

The items I received were:

  • Chella Passionate Pink Lip Pencil
  • Smashbox Photo Finish Primer Oil
  • Paula Dorf Enhancer in Baby Eyes
  • Trust Fund Beauty Nail Polish in the color I'm Kind of a Big Deal
  • Margaret Dabbs London Glass Nail File
I would call this more of a lip crayon, than a pencil, but it's a really pretty color, and I absolutely love Chella's eyebrow pencil, so perhaps I'll love this too?
I'm interested in try this, I just wish it were a bigger size, hopefully I can get enough uses out of it to determine whether or not it makes a difference in my skin.
I feel like this is supposed to be a sort of highlight for the eyes, but it really gives off a concealer feel and color about it.
I was least impressed with this. It's a nail file, what more can I say? Although, i do prefer the glass files to the other ones.
This was my favorite item, its such a beautiful sweetheart mauve-y pink color, which is just perfect for the upcoming spring time. It also wears for a considerably decent amount of time without a top coat and is very opaque.

That's all today!

Zoya Nail Polish (Mini Haul & Swatches)

My love for Zoya all started with a bottle I received in a Glam Bag about a year ago, and I've been smitten ever since! I have to say that Zoya is my favorite brand of nail polish, they have a wide selection of colors, finishes, and textures. Their formulas are really good, the colors are super opaque, and they do not contain formaldehyde, formaldehyde resin, toluene, dibutyl phthalate, or camphor, and I find that the polish lasts a lot longer than others on my nails. Zoya has a special every once in a while, where you can get a certain number of bottles of nail polish for free, and only pay for shipping. This is the second time that I've taken part of this promotion, the time before, I got 4 full sized nail polishes and 3 mini ones. This time the offer was for 4 full sized bottles of nail polish. I paid 15 dollars for international shipping I believe? Their nail polish runs for $10 on their website, so it's a pretty good deal, even for international shipping.

The colors I chose were:

  • Caitlin
  • Natty
  • Elodie
  • Brigitte

That's all for today!

My December and January Ipsy Glam Bags!

While eagerly awaiting the arrival of my February glam bag, I wanted to share my goodies from December and January.
As far as I can tell, there was no theme for December's bag, it was more of a thank you at the end of the year kind of thing. The bag is cute, with a red quilted patent leather look (it's plastic) and is a perfect match for the holidays.

December's items were:

  • Marc Anthony Hydrating Coconut Oil Conditioning Treatment
  • Elizabeth Mott Thank Me Later Eyeshadow Primer
  • Jersey Shore Spa Anti Aging Lip & Hand Polish in the scent Vanilla Bean
  • Pacifica Power Of Love Powerful Color Natural Lipstick in Nudie Red
  • Tarte Smooth Operator Amazonian Clay Finishing Powder
I'm in love with all these items, but the one I was most excited about is the Tarte finishing powder! This is officially my first Tarte product, so I'm really excited to try it out!
I have a couple of Marc Anthony products, and for me, its hit or miss. I don't care for coconut in any form, but this has shea butter also, so the scent might be ok for me. I'm willing to try it, because I love to try new hair products. Who knows, this could end up being my new holy grail hair conditioner!
I love Elizabeth Mott! I have various makeup items from their brand, and none of which have yet to disappoint! I really love my Essence primer, but I have to give this a go and see how it fares!
At first glance, I thought that this was a hand lotion. Then I opened the tube, and come to find out that it's an exfoliant! With winter in full swing I can really use this for my super dry lips. It smells delicious!
I love lipstick, so I was really happy to see one in my bag. I've never tried lip products from Pacifica, I have a few eyeshadow duos and I really like them, so I have high expectations for this lipstick. The color is a perfect nude shade for me, it has a subtle hint of red in it, which is perfect for my lips. Plus, how cute is that packaging?
As I said before, this is my first ever Tarte product, and I've heard a lot of good things about Tarte as a whole, so I'm interested in seeing how this finishing powder holds up.

The theme for January was All Eyes On You, and the bag has a cute mod Warhol inspired print.
My January goodies were:
  • The Balm Mr. Write (Now) Eyeliner Pencil in Jac
  • Pur~Lisse Blue Lotus 4-1 Eye Adore Serum for all skin types
  • Mitchell And Peach Body Cream in English Leaf
  • Beau Gachis Paris Smudge Brush
  • Hikari Cream Pigment in Mink
This eyeliner is a beautiful coppery gold/brown color, which is a perfect shade to make my blue eyes pop! I can't wait to see how well this wears.
I've gotten quite a few different Pur~Lisse items, but this looks like an under eye cream, which is something I haven't gotten before, and it's also something that I would be interested in using. It claims to hydrate, brighten, firms, and decreases puffiness.
I'm always happy to get body lotions, because I have fairly dry skin. I like the fresh scent of this cream, that is supposed to be inspired by the English Countryside. It has Shea butter, English honey and essential oils. I used it on my hands, and it absorbed quickly, without feeling greasy, it left my hands feeling pretty soft, and I like the light subtle floral fresh scent.
I firmly believe that you can never have too many makeup brushes! (that is, unless you are washing them!) The bristles feel pretty soft, and they're pretty dense, which is something I prefer in a makeup brush.
I can not get over the gorgeous color of this cream pigment! It's a beautiful rose gold, and I'm in love! I'm such a neutral junkie! I can't help myself!

That's all for today lovelies!
