My September Ipsy Glam Bag!

Ever since summer time, I really feel like the time has just been flying by! I can't believe September is nearly half way over! I seriously can't wait for fall, winter, the holidays, and everything that comes with it! This time of the year is my absolute favourite and I'm finding myself getting extremely antsy about Halloween already ha ha. I realized I'm way over do with my glam bag favourites, so be on the look out for that coming up soon!

I am in love with this month's bag and the items I received!
September's theme was Street Style, and I feel the design of the bag was spot on with the theme.

The items I received this month were:

  • Crown Brush Duo brush (C476 Crease and Shadow Brush)
  • Caviar CC Cream 10 in 1 leave in hair perfector
  • Nourish Organic Moisturizing Cream Face Cleanser for all skin types (Cucumber and Watercress)
  • Cailyn Art Touch Tinted Lip Gloss (08 Love Affair)
  • Pacifica 7 Free Nail Polish in Red Red Wine
This brush is dense and fluffy, but I don't think it's as soft as my Coastal Scents brushes.. I'll have to wash it and give it a try! I always love getting makeup brushes, especially eyeshadow ones, because you can really never have too many. Right?
I love trying out different hair care products! This CC cream is supposed to "Perfect hair in 10 different ways for complete: Moisture, Shine, Smoothness, Softness, UV protection, Manageability, Strength, Anti-Breakage, Heat Protection and Light Hold." That seems like a tall order to fill, so I'm definitely excited to try this out! It smells citrus-y, more on the lemon side and I'm not entirely sure how I feel about that yet...
I'm always a little cautious about putting new things on my skin however, this cleanser is certified organic and is made with natural ingredients, so I feel pretty confident in using it. I didn't notice any fragrance in this either.
The colour of this gloss in the tube definitely threw me upon first glance, when I opened it however, I was pleasantly surprised! This lip gloss is a beautiful berry colour that just screams fall! The downside I'm seeing right now is that the tube appears to be only half full? I was a little sad when I realized that, because it really is a gorgeous colour.

Can I just gush over this GORGEOUS nail polish?! It looks brighter here, but the colour is definitely a rich, deep, dark red wine colour. Which, in my opinion, is the perfect fall colour! Also, how cute is this bottle? I love how nautical it is, and the gold accents compliment the colour of the nail polish beautifully.

That's all for September's Glam Bag!
What did all of you lovelies receive?

Makeup By One Direction! The Looks Collection (Limited Edition Set)

I'm excited to bring to you guys something a little different! I signed up with a website called Brand Backer, I want to say maybe a year ago when I first started up my blog. (check them out HERE) Basically, they are a site that helps bloggers gain more exposure by offering campaigns to participate in that are set up by different companies, and in turn we can receive samples of all sorts of products (not just cosmetics) to write about! I feel like they really give the little guys (myself included ha ha) more of an opportunity to be put out there and that gives us the chance to expand our audience so to speak.

As you can probably gather from the title of this post, I'm bringing you all a sneak preview of a limited edition make-up collection created by the band One Direction and distributed by the cosmetics company Markwins! This collection has yet to be released in Canada, (it will be available in the near future though!) but I believe as of August 25, 2014 you can find it in the United States at Macy's, Lord and Taylor, Dillard's just to name a few. Eventually the collection will be available worldwide. I was really interested in this particular campaign, because I haven't seen very many make-up lines created by Bands/Singers, they mostly come out with their own fragrances.

So what is this make-up collection you ask? "The Looks Collection" is a set of 3 limited edition tins that each contain 6 beauty/make-up items (it also comes with some stencils that you can use to decorate your tin or whatever else you wish) and they are all named after songs and albums by the band. The sets are: Midnight Memories, Take Me Home and Up All Night.
Each set is designed to create different types of looks: Rocker Girl, Girl Next Door, and Flirty Party Girl.

I received the Midnight Memories Kit (for the Rocker Girl look) which contains:

  • Liquid Lights Glow Gloss in "Through the Dark"- A poppy coloured gloss that glows a bright red-orange under a UV light
  • Cream Lipstick in "Best Song Ever"- A crimson red lipstick
  • Eye Shadow Palette with 5 colours in the shades: "Little White Lies", "Don't Forget Where You Belong", "Half A Heart", "Strong", and "Midnight Memories" - A shimmery variety of grey's and pink
  • "Little Black Dress" Volumizing Mascara in perfectly black
  • Eye and Body Crayon in "Better Than Words"- A chubby black pencil
  • Nail Polish in "Right Now"- A metallic grey colour
  • A 5 piece stencil set

Lip gloss is on the left and lipstick is on the right.
Going clockwise starting from the light almost white colour: "Little White Lies", "Don't Forget Where You Belong", "Half A Heart" , "Strong" and in the centre is "Midnight Memories"
Left to right: "Little White Lies", "Don't Forget Where You Belong", "Half A Heart", "Strong", and "Midnight Memories."

Eye and body pencil.

I like the way the items are packaged in the keepsake tin, and I like the overall concept of the packaging of the items themselves, however I don't care much for the glossy black writing on the matte black background.. It makes it terribly hard to read. I like the variety of items you get, it really makes it easy to create an entire look with just one set. The colour scheme is cohesive, and definitely plays on the "Rocker Girl" look, with bold and smokey colours. As for the make up its self, I found each item to be very pigmented and of a fairly good quality. The eye shadows, lip gloss and nail polish all have glitter in them, which I personally like and I feel it adds flair to the whole "Rocker Girl" look. I'll have to try them out to gain a better opinion, but this was based off of my first impression when I swatched each colour on my arm. I didn't notice any kind of plastic or chemical smell to the make-up, which is definitely a plus! Over all I like this set and I'm very excited to test each item out! If you would like to look into The Looks Collection more, check out the Makeup by One Direction Facebook page!

Stay tuned for a special give away post sponsored by Brand Backer!

That's all for today lovelies!

Fan Expo Canada!

Last Saturday my hubby and I went to the Fan Expo Convention that is held here every year at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre in Downtown Toronto. I've wanted to go for a while but for one reason or another we've never been able to go, so we finally decided that we were going to go no matter what this year! The convention this year was 4 days long, unfortunately, my hubby and I were only available to go for one day and that was Saturday.. Next year we plan to go for at least two days if possible. If you're not familiar with Fan Expo, or conventions in general, this is a big show that hosts a number of different genres under one roof! There was a variety of awesome stuff to see: from sci-fi, horror, anime, video games and all kinds of other nerdy things in between! I was in heaven!

There were over 900 vendors selling various goodies like plushies, action figures, statues, video games, and tee-shirts and hats. Of course I wanted to buy EVERYTHING! Ha ha! I really had to stop myself from buying all the cool collectibles, because some were quite pricey.

There were also a good mix of different celebrities you could meet! Again, I had to choose only one, because the meet ups and autographs were really expensive.. Le sigh... I chose to meet my all time favourite WWE Diva Trish Stratus! If you didn't know this about me already, I'm a huge wrestling fan! I grew up watching wrestling with my dad and even though I'm not into it much these days, wrestling will always hold a special place in my heart. It is after all the reason I met my husband! (That might be left for another post though haha) I had such a blast, and I'm so glad I finally got to meet Trish! She's such a lovely and sweet person! Oh and totally GORGEOUS! (but I think that goes without saying haha) I went for a photo op with Trish and Amy Dumas (or Lita) later in the day and my hubby and I are still really surprised that Trish remembered us! It was really cool that she still remember who we were and our names even after meeting tons of other people that day. I wish I could have chatted with both of them, since I only met with Trish, Amy really seemed nice but we didn't get to talk. Perhaps the next time they come back?

Aside from the celebrities, there were also a ton of cosplayers! Some of them were really impressive, maybe one day I'll venture out and try cosplaying! Any way, the show was really amazing and I can't wait to go back next year, even if it was really packed and the lines were long it was so worth it!

That's all for now lovelies!
If you're in Toronto, did you visit Fan Expo? If so what was your favourite part?
If not, or if you live elsewhere, is there a similar convention that you've been to?
